About Solara Energy:
Solara Energy was founded in January and incorporated in May of 2001. Mr. Mark Weiss founded the company along with Mr. Peter Burcat as a direct result of having had their families suffer through three rolling blackouts during the early months of the California Energy Crisis. The third and final blackout was an unplanned blackout that lasted more than 10 hours.

Needless to say, Mr. Weiss and Mr. Burcat were very distressed by this level of service from a public utility and sought a solution that would provide a reliable, cost affective alternative to using power from the utility. Mr. Weiss had looked at solar energy years before but had not paid much attention to it until the recent energy crisis. He was quite surprised to find that not only had the technology advanced significantly but that various state agencies had put in place programs to help offset the cost of these CO-generation systems through grants, rebates, tax incentives and buydowns.

The only thing missing was public awareness. Knowledge of these programs was hard to find. With more research it became abundantly clear that there was a business opportunity but more importantly a public service need to "get the word out."

Solara Energy was formed and immediately began a crusade to get appropriate information into the public's hands. The company was founded as a direct result of the energy crisis but in reality, with knowledge gained, the founders have become passionate about the positive results of using Renewable Energy for homes, businesses and government facilities. The reduction in greenhouse gas pollutants alone justify the cost.
